Indiana Sunset

September 1st, 2010 , Posted in Bella, Indianapolis Photographer, Personal

This summer has been so crazy that I have a massive backlog of photos to get through. This was one amazing evening in June-the sky was simply breathtaking! I don’t think I stopped shooting for 45 minutes and have so many photos from that night that I love. So far this is the only one I’ve had time to edit. And who knows when I’ll get to the rest. Hehe.

Bella’s Green Day

August 28th, 2010 , Posted in Bella, my family

During the first 2 weeks of Kindergarten (yup, she’s in school this year!) Bella’s class has been doing a color a day. Here she is snapping green beans into a green bowl, wearing a green dress on green day. Note the beans sticking out of her apple cider slushy. That girl is constantly building, tying, stacking and connecting things. I find crazy, elaborate creations in her room all the time-hairbows connecting rubber snakes to sundresses that are tied around bedposts with a stuffed octopus hanging on for dear life-kinds of things.  She’s a funny girl!

And a bit belated…the kid’s back to school photo.

Summertime fun in the country

May 13th, 2010 , Posted in Bella

She grew up on a side of the road
Where the church bells ring and strong love grows
She grew up good
She grew up slow
Like American honey

Steady as a preacher
Free as a weed
Couldn’t wait to get goin’
But wasn’t quite ready to leave
So innocent, pure and sweet
American honey

There’s a wild, wild whisper
Blowin’ in the wind
Callin’ out my name like a long lost friend
Oh I miss those days as the years go by
Oh nothing’s sweeter than summertime
And American honey

Bella and my Grandpa’s apple trees

April 17th, 2010 , Posted in Bella

We’re likely moving from our house this summer or fall and I feel like I have so little time to do the shoots I’ve imagined on our property. All these ideas I’ve built up of the last 10 years, all the places my children have played, the trees they’ve grown up climbing, the grass they felt for the first time in their lives,  the blossoms we look forward to each spring, their tire swings and sandbox…I feel like I’m running out of time to capture it forever.

In the light of wanting to photograph all these enchanted spots, I took Bella out under one of the apple trees that my grandpa planted before I was born. I wasn’t able to get exactly what I wanted because the wind picked up at sunset and the canopy went nuts, but I’m still happy with the photos.

My jumping bean

March 16th, 2010 , Posted in Bella, Personal

Anyone who knows my Bella knows that she cannot sit still for very long. She’s not exactly a hyper little thing-except in the evening when she’s tired-it’s just that the concept of walking does not exist to her. She hops, skips, bounces, jumps, leaps and pirouettes to get where she needs to go. Damian and I just laugh when we see her coming and the famous phrase around here is “does that girl even know how to walk”? I love it, though. She just seems so happy and floaty all the time. Like she’s always trying to dance her way through life. And what could be better then that, right?

Edited with MiaBella Summer Skies set

another breath of summer

February 3rd, 2010 , Posted in Action, Bella, Indianapolis Baby Photographer, Indianapolis Children's Photographer, Indianapolis Photographer, Personal

Today I’m packing up my bags to head to California to teach for a few days. I’m so excited to be escaping the cold weather here for a bit. Even though it’s not supposed to be terribly warm there (by their standards), it’s relief from the freezing temps here in good old Indiana. And I’m happy I’ll be able to come back and share some new warm weather photographs on the blog, but for now here is another of my silly girl from last summer. I think this shoot is my favorite I’ve ever done with her…because she was so “Bella”.
