Last week during a private mentorship I took Christian out for a fun session. I just love urban backgrounds with fun and funky colors for boys his age and we had a blast exploring my favorite spots with him in my hometown. I don’t know what happened to this kid of mine, but over the last year he went from hating being photographed to being my most cooperative model. He actually asks me to do sessions with him. And that big, sweet, dimpled grin of his just melts this momma’s heart…sigh. Okay, so I know I’m biased, but I just can’t help it.

Livvie is one of Bella’s good friends from church and she was kind enough to model for me while I was teaching last week. She really is one of the sweetest little girls I know and I’m lucky to have had the chance to photograph her since she was just a toddler.  Thank you Livvie!

I’m getting ready to head out of town to hold a workshop in Ohio, but had to take a break from packing to edit and share these. I love our spring and summer evenings here in Indiana…everything is so beautiful and right now all the flowers are in bloom. Sigh…just too perfect. I sneaked a few shots of Bella before we headed in for bedtime and just loved them.

I’ve had quite a few requests to mentor photographers this spring and summer and since I only have 2.5 more months before my maternity leave begins I wanted to post the openings I have left.

April 28-30

May-I have 2 openings in May. One the week of May 16 and one the week of May 23. Dates within those weeks are somewhat flexible.

June-One opening the first week of June.

After that I’m booked until my leave starts and I likely won’t be doing any mentorships until fall of 2011.

We’re likely moving from our house this summer or fall and I feel like I have so little time to do the shoots I’ve imagined on our property. All these ideas I’ve built up of the last 10 years, all the places my children have played, the trees they’ve grown up climbing, the grass they felt for the first time in their lives,  the blossoms we look forward to each spring, their tire swings and sandbox…I feel like I’m running out of time to capture it forever.

In the light of wanting to photograph all these enchanted spots, I took Bella out under one of the apple trees that my grandpa planted before I was born. I wasn’t able to get exactly what I wanted because the wind picked up at sunset and the canopy went nuts, but I’m still happy with the photos.

I had the opportunity to photograph these gorgeous sisters from Florida while they were in Indiana a couple of weeks ago. We visited their beautiful family farm for their session and I just adore their portraits. It reminded me of the country farm that I grew up on-in fact their mom and I discovered we both owned Arabian horses as teens! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

I’ve had this album in my head for months, but needed an incentive to finish it up. Well, today was the last day for me to take advantage of an album sale and that did it! I love designing as much as I love the art of photography and this album was just too fun to make. I wanted it to scream happiness and whimsy, with bright colors that still held to the vintage feel that all of my design seem to have. I think I pulled it off and am thrilled with the results! And of course I have to share with you all.
