My Boys

August 31st, 2006 , Posted in Uncategorized

So wow, what a week! Yup, it’s one thing after another…but isn’t always that way when you have little ones?

Garrett is doing well in school and we finally figured out a way to help him learn the words he struggles with. He’s labeling everything and it’s working! (Thanks for the great tip, Mom! *smooch*) I now have labels on all of my doors telling me to go “Out”. One on the bathroom that tell me “No” when the door is closed and “Yes” when it’s open. I have a “Something” or two on a few somethings. And it’s working! He is reading and enjoying it! Tomorrow he wants to decorate my home with what and where. And he’s joining the Cub Scouts. He is so excited about it and I know he will LOVE all the activities.

Chris has been on the yellow light at school twice since it started. Hmmm…kinda funny how Garrett made it through the whole year of Kindergarten on green and Chris was on yellow on his 4th day. He hasn’t been bad, but he gets bored fast and gets as he says “wild”. Maybe it’s cause I see me in him, but I have to say I’m not upset with him. Sure I do the mom thing and talk to him about how important it is to behave in school, blah, blah, blah. But really, I love who is he is. He’s sweet and loving, but full of LIFE! He wants to figure things out and does it fast. He soaks stuff up like a sponge and if he isn’t challenged he gets bored. He lives life to the fullest and doesn’t worry about what people think. I watched him out the window yesterday run into the soybean field next to the yard. He saw grasshoppers jumping and watched them for a minute, the he just started jumping with them in the chest high beans. He saw me looking out the window, waved and kept jumping with the grasshoppers. That’s my Chris.

Little boys discuss serious matters

I love hearing the conversations that my boys have, lol. Last night on the way home from church the boys were talking and I told Chris he was cute. Here’s the converation after I said that.

Chris “Garrett is cute too”
Garrett “Thanks, all of the kids in this family are cute”
Chris “And God is cute too”
Garrett “No, God isn’t cute, he’s HANDSOME”
Chris “Oh”
Garrett “Yeah he was cute when he was a baby, but now he is handsome”
Chris “And God can do anything, he turns the lights off at night with a BIG remote control!”
Garrett sighs… “Chris, how many times do I have to tell you God doesn’t use a remote control!”

You can bet I was driving down the road struggling not to laugh out loud! Chris of course continued to insist that God had to use a remote control to turn all the lights off at night and Garrett just gave up trying to convince him, lol.
I love just sitting back and listening to what they say. I wish I could record all these funny little conversations that they have.

I have about 300 pictures I need to edit and my computer is still not up yet. I’m browsing through all of my old pictures since I have nothing else to do, here’s an old one.

Trying to prepare for school

August 9th, 2006 , Posted in Uncategorized

I’ve neglected updating here, I know, lol. I’ve just been so busy that I’m just now getting to it.
The boys start school a week from today. I’m trying to get them to go to bed earlier so that they’re used to the school schedule, but it’s not been easy. I put them to bed and within minutes we here thumps and giggles from their bedroom. It’s hard for me to get upset with them becuase I remember doing the exact same thing with my sister. And of course as soon as they hear mine or Damian’s footsteps coming up the stairs…it’s quiet as can be. Lol! And when we peek in on them, they are so good at faking they’re asleep…well Chris does crack the occasional grin and if we stare at him long enough he bursts into giggles. Little goofs!

Here’s a couple of pictures that are a few weeks old, but I like them.
